The Netherlands For Two: One Fiasco of A Trip

Have you ever gone on a trip with your partner only to realise that you don’t actually match? That was my Netherlands for two trip.

The whole month of September, I will share 30 stories with you. One story each day. You will find out how I travelled, what countries I called home and how many times I repeated a travel in the same place. But most importantly, you will get to know my comfort zone stories. Would you share yours?

We stayed in Den Haag and visited Amsterdam for a day. It was my first time staying in an Airbnb. I still don’t like that company and I am only using it for long-term trips. This was back in February 2016 and it was short and filled with frustration, kinda like the whole relationship. It was also over the Valentine’s Day weekend so rather cold weekend. I never celebrated that, and so the partner of the time got upset with me. Which made the trip even worse.

But outside of that, we visited the Dutch Cheese Museum which I loved. We also went to a brewery, which I didn’t enjoy. Only because I am not into beers. And I couldn’t have a cold beer in mid of February. We went through the Red District but it was way too early for the ladies to be in the windows. And when in Den Haag, we made it to Scheveningen Beach and I got to see the place from up top. Remember my one true commitment to travelling? Always trying to see the place from up top.

I talked a loooot about that trip because to this day I still don’t know everything about it. Of course, I mean on my podcast, Travelling Inside Out. Granted I can only serve you my side of the story since I am not on good terms with said ex. Nor do I wanna be.

By now, you might have realised, that I am always learning something even from a bad outcome. And boy has my trust issues been tested back then! Don’t get me wrong, I loved the little I’ve seen of the country. I promised I will visit the Netherlands again in spring but somehow I still didn’t do it. When would you go?
